DJ Spotlight – The Reverend Moon

Background
share close

I studied classical music (violin) at the conservatory in Utrecht.

Unfortunately it did not work out as I quickly discovered that the classical world in general is quite adverse to synths and electronics. So I decided to switch to something else I love: computers and hacking. That became my career. However music always remains a passion. Another passion is radio.

I built FM transmitters when I was 14 and polluted the airwaves with my pirate shows for many years. Over the years I have built my studio and added loads of analogue gear such as a DIY modular synth, TB303, Moog Little Phatty, Moog Etherwave theremin, VCS_350 vocoder and several more digital synths (JP8000, Gaia, TR8).

The tracks I make can be heard in my biweekly show on Shoutingfire regularly, ranging from dance to psychedelic. In my show (every other Monday from 20:00 – 22:00 CET)

I play a wide range of vintage, psychedelic and dance music. It really depends on my mood. Sometimes it is focussed on early electronica from the 60s and 70s or ambient, but sometimes it’s also pure 2019 progressive dance music. I love mixing in rare vinyls, unreleased stuff from artist friends and the occasional live performance with my gear. Every show has a unique element.

This adhoc and impromptu character means that it might not always be perfect, but always interesting

?

I stream my show from 20ft below sea level, Dutch style.

Ah a fellow FM electronics tinkerer. Too cool. Sounds like you did a better job polluting airwaves than I did. Had lotsa fun doing that though.
